Key Responsibilities
Lead the UNIX/Linux administration team, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
Oversee major infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget and timeline.
Develop and enforce standardized operating procedures, best practices and runbooks.
Manage vendor relationships, evaluating new technologies.
Design, deploy and maintain highly available, scalable and secure on‑premises and cloud‑based Linux infrastructure.
Define long‑term roadmap for Linux and virtualization environments.
Serve as escalation point for complex system issues.
Drive the Infrastructure‑as‑Code vision, designing and implementing automation frameworks.
Design and audit security configurations, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
Architect and validate enterprise‑grade backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (see alternative qualifications) and 14+ years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s degree with 12+ years; or Ph.D. with 9+ years.
Expert‑level knowledge of AIX, RHEL/Linux, VMware vSphere, automation and configuration management.
Demonstrated leadership of technical teams and successful project stewardship.
Strong problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
Relevant certifications can substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
Nice to Have
Hands‑on experience with Splunk, including configuring indexes, dashboards, alerts, queries (SPL), monitoring and integration.
Hands‑on experience with Ansible, creating playbooks, roles, modules and automation, including use of AWX/Ansible Tower.
Hands‑on experience with IBM AIX, including installation, configuration, user management, file system management, networking, security and virtualization.
