Shift Schedules
Shift 1:
Monday + Tuesday 5:00 pm to 1:30 am EST; Friday – Sunday 10:00 pm – 6:30 am EST.
Shift 2:
Wednesday + Thursday 5:00 pm to 1:30 am; Friday – Sunday 10:00 pm – 6:30 am EST.
Shift 3:
Monday – Friday 10:00 pm – 6:30 am EST.
Position pending funding in the August / September 2026 timeframe.
The
Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS)
is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter‑terrorism (CT), counter‑intelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non‑combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.

Network Engineer , the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the IT Technology Development division within the NCIS ITD organization in Quantico, VA.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support and troubleshooting services for incoming service incidents related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
Provide end‑user software and hardware troubleshooting, applying diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes, and implement or recommend solutions.
Identify recurring issues and notify management of patterns.
Test and analyze all elements of network facilities.
Provide technical assistance, address customer queries, and ensure a seamless customer experience.
Assess and troubleshoot issues related to company products/services, offer step‑by‑step guidance, and escalate complex problems to the appropriate department.
Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources on multiple enclaves using software and hardware tools.
Identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting network performance.
Analyze network performance, usage, traffic flows, access, and interfaces.
Provide technical planning and analysis for communication activities, including designing, integrating, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, monitoring, reporting, documenting, working with appropriate vendors, and performing preventative maintenance services.
Perform testing, provisioning, operations, and emergency response for ongoing network operations.
Oversee and manage the deployment of upgrades to existing data, video, and related systems in a multi‑location environment.
Ensure all required operational and support documents are current.
Maintain a current understanding of emerging technologies and trends in online media, cloud service, storage solutions, and other data center technologies.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Security Clearance Level:
Active TS/SCI clearance.
Required Experience:
8+ years of network experience; with 3 years of specialized networking experience.
Experience with engineering data center and IP backbone networks in a multi‑vendor, multi‑protocol environment, including networks based on T1, DS3, fiber/optical, DSL, Ethernet, and Ethernet over Copper core.
Experience with protocols: BGP, OSPF, vDC, vPC, VRF, spanning‑tree, VLANs, 802.1q, QoS, Cisco ASA with active/active multiple contexts.
Firewall experience: Cisco ASA 5500X, Juniper SRX, Forcepoint SW.
Expert level configuration of Cisco routers and switches: 4500/6500, 3750, 3850, and ASR 1000.
Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K data center experience.
Experience with configuration and management of firewalls: Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, Forcepoint Sidewinder, and Juniper.
Familiarity with NTP, MAB, F5 deployment.
Experience with network management apps: Cisco ACS/ISE, Cisco Prime, SolarWinds.
Required Certifications:
Security+ CE, CCNP or CISSP.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or technical discipline.
Location:
Onsite at Quantico, VA.
US Citizenship required.
