Position: Data Analyst – Commercial Agronomy
Location: Remote okay but Ames, IA office preferred. Pivot Bio maintains offices in Berkeley, CA; Hayward, CA; Ames, IA & St. Louis, MO
Pivot Bio is looking for a data analyst who will work with agronomists, scientists, and analysts to extract meaningful insights from agronomic data. This role is on the customer-focused Commercial Agronomy team that builds lasting relationships with growers who are utilizing Pivot Bio products to deliver a more consistent and reliable source of nitrogen to crops. In this role, you will define the data requirements and reporting infrastructure to have continued learnings through on-farm product usage.
Responsibilities:
Extract meaningful insights from real-world agronomic data to guide Commercial Agronomy projects Statistically analyze diverse data sets (large, small, robust, sparse, etc.) to provide insight on product performance and drive data-based decision making Use problem-solving skills to analyze agronomic data/files and find answers to data questions Support new product launches and proper product placement through the timely and accurate acquisition and analysis of data from farmer-customers and independent sales representatives Provide technical direction, advice, review, and evaluation of emerging in-field measurements and data processing technologies to support Commercial Agronomy operations Build intuitive visualizations for non-data scientists Track data ingest throughout the analytics process to ensure all data sets are accounted for and properly analyzed
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural or ecological sciences field with experience conducting research and biostatistical analyses (Advanced degree preferred) Ability to work with agronomic and on-farm data efficiently and recognize the requests and information from sales reps and customers Proficiency in using Tableau or R Shiny for building visualizations Proficiency in Python or R preferred Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries preferred Familiarity of agricultural inputs and/or machine data systems including MyJohnDeere, Climate FieldView, AgLeader, SMS and others a plus Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, or another spatial data software a plus Strong communication, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently, learn and act quickly, making decisions, drawing conclusions in the face of ambiguity and deliver quality results Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet seasonal demands of the position which could include long days and weekend Must have valid driver's license
