Position Summary
Engineering Director with significant experience in the Semiconductor Fab (Base Build) industry, responsible for all design and engineering aspects of a semiconductor fabrication facility base build project, ensuring technical integrity, compliance, and alignment with design standards and operational requirements. Responsibilities
Manage the entire design process, from concept to detailed design and construction support, ensuring adherence to life sciences industry regulations and standards. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Construction, Procurement, Contracts, Quality, Project Controls, HSE, HR, IT and CQV) to align design objectives and project requirements. Develop project plans, allocate resources effectively, and manage project budgets to ensure successful project execution. Collaborate with stakeholders to set project priorities, manage expectations, and provide regular updates on project status. Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other baseline documents for all project phases. Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts. Drive design optimization and resolve complex technical challenges while ensuring adherence to industry codes and safety standards. Develop a full design strategy from Tool List and Utility Matrix, and support commissioning and startup readiness. Conduct design reviews, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines, budgets and quality standards. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (FDA guidelines, ISO standards and other relevant regulations) throughout the design process. Establish and maintain quality processes to deliver safe and effective products. Lead risk management activities: risk assessment, risk analysis and mitigation strategies. Translate global strategic initiatives into procedures to be implemented on projects. Provide technical guidance and support to the team in resolving complex design challenges. Stay updated on the latest advancements, emerging technologies and industry best practices related to life sciences engineering design. Qualifications
Accredited four‑year degree (or global equivalent) in engineering and twenty years of relevant work experience. Extensive experience as an engineering director in the semiconductor fab base build industry. Strong leadership skills with deep knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, common alternate means and methods strategies, and large‑scale industrial engineering. Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, and commercial availability and cost of materials. Effective communication skills with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and other stakeholders. Ability to develop project set‑ups, control‑level schedules, progress reporting and project close‑out. Proven track record in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as FDA guidelines, ISO standards and other relevant regulations throughout the design process. Experience leading risk management activities including risk assessment, analysis and mitigation strategies. Ability to translate global strategic initiatives into procedures for projects. Professional registration and active participation in technical societies. LI‑OT1 classification.
