Perform echocardiography procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Integrate technical skill and professional judgment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, physicians, and care teams. Deliver care that supports top-decile outcomes for patient experience, quality, and safety. Practice within the scope of certification and adhere to all regulatory and organizational requirements. Maintain echocardiography equipment, including reading and applying safety, operation, and maintenance guidelines. Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations. Demonstrate accountability, efficiency, and professionalism in daily practice. Support coworkers, patients, families, and visitors as needed within scope of practice. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and healthy work environment.
Qualifications Minimum Education
Graduate of an AMA-accredited school of health science education required Registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of hire (or within two (2) years if on-the-job trained)
Experience
Proficiency with GE echocardiography equipment preferred Ability to read and interpret safety, operation, and maintenance manuals Intermediate computer, keyboarding, and data entry skills Knowledge of medical terminology Spanish-speaking ability preferred
Licensure & Certifications
Registered or registry-eligible with ARDMS required Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hire Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association required as determined by department
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians Ability to work within the chain of command using positive verbal and non-verbal communication Competence in delivering safe, effective care within legal and organizational standards Strong customer service skills with a patient-centered approach Understanding of clinical workflows and care delivery processes Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented healthcare environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, position, push, pull, and/or transfer patients and equipment weighing 50+ pounds Manual dexterity and functional mobility for patient care activities Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and turning Near visual acuity for detailed work (20 inches or less)
Work Environment
Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and power equipment Exposure to odorous chemicals, specimens, and unpleasant environmental conditions Participation in emergency or crisis situations Requires flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as assigned Regular exposure to acoustic energy
