Urgent Care Physician

Organization: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Northern California Health Care System
Location: Martinez VA Medical Center, 150 Muir Rd, Martinez, CA 94553 (Community-Based Outpatient Clinic)

• Schedule: Full-time, Monday Friday; Clinical hours approximate 36 hours/week, flexible within urgent care framework
• Setting: On-site urgent care at Martinez VA CBOC acute, non life-threatening conditions only (after-hours emergencies are referred to 911)

• Diagnose and treat Veterans presenting with minor injuries, acute illnesses, and non-critical conditions
• Order diagnostic tests (labs, imaging), perform point-of-care procedures, manage medications, and initiate referrals
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary VA teams to ensure continuity of care and follow-up
• Adhere to VA clinical protocols, documentation standards, and veteran-centered care guidelines

• Degree: MD or DO from accredited institution
• Licensure: Full, unrestricted U.S. medical license
• Training: Residency in Emergency, Family, or Internal Medicine with significant urgent care/emergency experience preferred
• Board Status: Board-certified or board-eligible
• Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required (exceptions when qualified citizens unavailable)

• Salary Range: $260,000 $325,000 annually
• Leave: days/year (26 annual + 13 sick + 11 federal holidays + CME days)
• Retirement: Federal pension (vests in 5 years) + Thrift Savings Plan with matching
• Insurance: Federal health, dental, vision, term life, long-term care
• CME Stipend: $1,000/year for full-time, board-certified providers
• Malpractice Protection: VA covers liability and tail coverage
• EDRP: Up to $200,000 in educational debt repayment over 1 5 years (eligibility required within 4 months of hire)
