Overview As part of the Operations Decision Support team within the Operations Planning and Performance (OP&P) organization, this role supports business units with cutting‑edge analytical solutions. The position is focused on optimizing airline operations through advanced modeling, data science, and machine learning to improve decision making and support the company’s long‑term strategic vision.
Responsibilities
Develop a deep domain understanding, identify opportunities, and design analytical solutions to address operational challenges.
Apply Operations Research (OR), statistics, data science, and machine learning techniques to evaluate performance, prescribe solutions, and improve decision making.
Engage in data mining, wrangling, modeling, visualization, and presentation of insights to business stakeholders.
Create compelling stories that communicate data‑driven insights for actionable decisions in operations‑related problems.
Research industry trends and keep up with advances in OR, data science techniques, and cloud‑based analytics.
Coordinate with teams across Airports, TechOps, and Integrated Operations Center to gather insights and identify opportunities.
Qualifications Minimum
Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in a quantitative discipline such as Operations Research, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Decision Sciences, or Statistics.
In‑depth knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
Advanced optimization modeling (LPs, MIPs, etc.) and experience building large‑scale models using FICO Xpress, ILOG CPLEX, or similar tools.
Experience applying machine learning, data science, and AI‑driven techniques to practical business problems.
Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++).
Practical experience in data extraction, engineering, cleansing, analysis, and visualization.
Excellent interpersonal, relational, and communication skills.
Preferred
Domain knowledge in the airline industry or related transportation field.
Experience building machine learning models on cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks).
Familiarity with visualization design and UX principles.
Knowledge of behavioral science or contextual inquiry principles.
