Your Role at Baxter The Analyst, Real-World Data & Healthcare Analytics is a technical contributor within Baxter’s Advanced Surgery Medical Affairs team. This role supports the generation of real-world evidence (RWE) by extracting, analyzing, and visualizing healthcare data to inform clinical and economic insights. The primary focus is leveraging large‑scale healthcare datasets—particularly the Premier Healthcare Database—to support evidence generation, value‑based care initiatives, and product utilization analyses for Baxter’s hemostats and sealants portfolio (e.g., Floseal, Tisseel). This role partners closely with Medical Affairs and Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) to translate complex data into actionable insights that support scientific communication, healthcare decision‑making, and non‑promotional clinical engagement.
What You'll Be Doing Real‑World Data (RWD) Analysis & Engineering
Perform targeted data extractions from healthcare datasets (with a primary focus on the Premier Healthcare Database) using SQL
Clean, validate, and structure hospital‑level data (EHR, chargemaster) to support RWE analyses
Develop and maintain reproducible data workflows and automated reporting pipelines
Ensure all datasets are audit‑ready and compliant with Medical Affairs standards
HEOR & Value Evidence Support
Prepare datasets and conduct analyses to support budget impact models, cost‑effectiveness studies, and value assessments
Analyze hospital cost and utilization data to support value‑based care initiatives and optimization programs
Contribute to evidence generation supporting clinical and economic value narratives
Data Visualization & Insight Delivery
Build and maintain interactive dashboards (Power BI or Tableau) to track product utilization, waste, and adoption across surgical specialties
Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for cross‑functional stakeholders
Support development of data‑driven reports for internal decision‑making and scientific engagement
Medical Affairs Scientific Support
Support RWE generation for scientific presentations, publications, and medical education initiatives
Fulfill data requests from Medical Affairs leadership to support clinical insight generation
Operate within a non‑promotional, scientifically rigorous framework
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all data activities comply with HIPAA, FDA guidance, and Baxter policies
Maintain high standards of data integrity, transparency, and reproducibility
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Economics, Life Sciences, or related field
Hands‑on experience working with the Premier Healthcare Database
1–2+ years of experience working with healthcare data (EHR, claims, or hospital datasets)
Proficiency in SQL; experience with R or Python for data analysis
Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI or Tableau)
Working knowledge of healthcare coding systems (ICD‑10, CPT/HCPCS, DRG)
Up to 20% travel
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in RWE, HEOR, or healthcare analytics within MedTech, Pharma, or consulting
Experience supporting economic modeling or value‑based care analyses
Familiarity with clinical research or Medical Affairs environments

Why This Role Matters This position plays a critical role in strengthening Baxter’s real‑world evidence capabilities by enabling data‑driven clinical and economic insights that support better decision‑making, improved patient outcomes, and responsible healthcare resource utilization.
Compensation and Benefits Estimated base salary for this position is $96,000.00 to $132,000.00 annually. Individual pay is based on location.
