Demonstrates adherence to the standards of conduct requirements.
Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse within the scope of practice of a nursing assistant. Vital signs; Ambulation; ADLs; routine treatment procedures as defined by hospital policies/procedures/routines.
Reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the licensed nurse. Demonstrates clinical/technical expertise in general nursing skills. Understands age-specific variations in the patient population.
Documents patient care measures according to patient care standards, policies, and procedures. Manages age-specific needs through appropriate adaptation of interventions (as directed by the licensed nurse).
Assists in and accompanies patients in the admission, transfer, transport, and discharge procedures. Provides for the safe care of patient valuables during these processes. Utilizes proper body mechanics when performing job duties.
Appropriately utilizes equipment and supplies (including following established policies, procedures, and protocols governing the transport, handling, and storage of intravenous fluids) in the care of the patient.
This position is represented by CHEU and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Job Requirements
High School Graduate / GED required
California Certified Nursing Assistant License (CNA License) required
Basic Life Support Cert (AHA BLS Cert) required.
Preferred
At least one (1) year of acute care or long-term experience
