Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your expertise as a Credentialing Specialist will play a vital role in supporting medical staff operations. This full-time, day shift position involves managing the daily functions of the Medical Staff office, coordinating activities, and facilitating communication between administration and department managers to address staff concerns and issues. Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission and other accreditation standards related to medical staff credentialing. Prepare, distribute, collect, review, and process applications for medical staff appointments, reappointments, and changes in department or privileges following established policies. Conduct primary source verification of practitioner credentials, including queries to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB), maintaining accurate and timely credential files. Maintain open communication with administration, department directors, and physicians to address concerns and requests promptly.
Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree or equivalent experience in a related business or medical secretarial field is preferred. Experience At least two years of credentialing experience within insurance, acute care hospitals, or similar entities is required. Certifications Certification in Medical Staff Credentialing is preferred. Skills and Requirements Strong mental focus and the ability to communicate detailed information clearly, both orally and in writing, are essential. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary to thrive in this role. Working Conditions Standard office environment with typical working conditions.
