As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) working under the supervision of licensed nurses, you will play a vital role in supporting patient well-being and safety. General Summary Under the guidance of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the PCA delivers direct patient care, ensuring comfort and safety throughout each shift. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling. Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility. Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience. Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making. Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes.
Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Certification and Training If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, candidates must complete a PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as bending and reaching. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is possible. Occasional encounters with difficult individuals may occur.
