Summary: Provide essential patient care in a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) stepdown unit, assisting with daily activities and monitoring patient conditions. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment to support nursing staff and patient needs. Major Responsibilities:
Assist with patient admissions, including orientation to unit routines and equipment. Respond promptly to patient needs, providing direct assistance or notifying appropriate personnel. Support nursing care plans by performing delegated tasks. Ensure patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies. Manage medication and supply retrieval for patient care. Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas. Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging. Engage in educational and performance improvement activities. Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency. Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and efficient patient throughput. Education and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required. Current registration with the appropriate state nursing assistant registry. BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Experience and Skills:
No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and understand English. Flexibility in work tasks and schedules. Basic computer proficiency. Knowledge of age-specific patient care considerations. Physical Requirements:
Ability to work variable shifts including days. Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and turning patients. Visual and auditory acuity to observe patient conditions. Exposure to blood and body fluids with appropriate precautions.
