JOB SUMMARY
Provides support services, under the supervision of the appropriate staff, that assists the client or family in the achievement of physical and emotional comfort according to the care plan. The HCBS Aide will be responsible for alerting patients to take medication, light housekeeping, cooking and other household chores. Reporting Structure: Reports to the HCBS Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSEducation High school graduate or currently enrolled in final year of high school and be 18 years of age. Work Experience Six (6) months' experience in a long-term care environment or home health preferred. You must have a valid driver's license and car insurance to transport clients. Must pass background check and not be listed on the TN or national abuse or sex offender registries. CPR (BLS can be taken thru Hardin Medical Center). Must complete ALL required in-services required per the HCBS TN Rules and Regulations, will be done after hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides for patient's personal hygiene: gives bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves, and assists with showers.
Provides for activities of daily living: assists with meals and feeds patients; ambulates, turns, and positions patients; provides fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Provides for comfort needs of patients.
Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees.
Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner.
Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate.
Promptly answers patients' requests.
Reports observations of a patient to the supervisor and home health/hospice agency caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.
Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and attractive appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner.
Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.
May have to transport clients to appointments, run errands, ect. OTHER DUTIES
Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Prolonged periods of standing and walking
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds during a scheduled work shift. Must be able to see with corrective eye wear Must be able to hear clearly with assistance May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases Able to handle emergency and/or crisis situations May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary Transferring, repositioning patients.
Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
Ability to manage emotional stress, especially when interacting with patients who have severe cognitive decline and may be angry or fearful.
Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests including random and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
