Performs specific patient care procedures, including phlebotomy, wound care, gastric and urethral tube insertion, and bedside testing, under the direction of a licensed nurse. Provides clinical support for the operation of nursing and clinical departments. Operates patient monitoring systems. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized short-term training in medical/surgical patient care or provision of special care. 1-3 years of experience preferred. Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary duties. Completion of a PHS Non-Licensed Assistive Personnel course or equivalent training required prior to placement in role. Formal medical technician or military training preferred.
