Key Responsibilities: 1. Assess injuries, administer first aid, provide treatment, and coordinate follow-up care with physicians and specialists. Focus on restoring mobility and strength, preventing disability, enabling athletes to return to peak performance, and minimizing re-injury risks. 2. Oversee rehabilitation programs and evaluate athletes' readiness to resume participation, collaborating closely with physicians. 3. Provide coverage for in-season and off-season practices and competitions at middle and high school levels within the regional Midwest area. 4. Manage supplies and equipment to ensure safety and readiness. 5. Educate athletic directors, coaches, athletes, and parents on injury prevention, care, and rehabilitation, including taping, nutrition, and other relevant topics. 6. Assist with the purchase and fitting of athletic equipment such as braces and bandages. 7. Apply therapeutic modalities including heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage, and sports-specific exercises both on the field and in training rooms. 8. Maintain and administer the training room. 9. Participate in decisions regarding athlete transportation during events. 10. Keep accurate, up-to-date documentation and communicate pertinent information to all stakeholders. 11. Coordinate scheduling with the Sports Medicine Program Coordinator to ensure adequate coverage. 12. Maintain certification through ongoing education and participate in training presentations. 13. Adhere to program, department, and organizational policies and support the mission and values. 14. Provide coverage for community athletic events as needed. Education and Experience: - Graduate of a CAATE-accredited athletic training program or internship. - Preferably one year of athletic training experience, though not required. Licensure and Certifications: - Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the relevant state. - National certification as an athletic trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC). - Current CPR certification.
