Join a dynamic healthcare simulation team in the Midwest region, where your technical expertise will support life-saving training and education. As a Simulation Technician, you will provide essential mechanical and technical assistance within a simulation center, working closely under the guidance of the Simulation Coordinator and Clinical Nursing Services leadership. Key Responsibilities
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of simulation and lab equipment, including operation manuals and catalogs. Program, operate, and maintain patient simulators and cameras during simulation sessions, ensuring physiological responses meet instructor specifications. Set up and dismantle simulation lab equipment efficiently, often managing rapid turnovers. Provide theatrical production support such as costuming and moulage, including creating realistic wounds and mixing simulated body fluids. Maintain and repair simulation equipment, including patient simulators, computers, monitors, task trainers, and multimedia peripherals; troubleshoot malfunctions and liaise with vendors as necessary. Collaborate with supervisors to organize, maintain, and restock simulation and skills lab supplies. Offer technical assistance, support, and training to faculty, instructors, and staff on simulation equipment usage. Assist with data collection for research or grant purposes and perform data entry into various databases. Support simulation sessions for learners such as Medical Assistants, Patient Care Assistants, and Nursing Students, validating retention of learning objectives using detailed checklists. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education Associate degree in healthcare, information management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the necessary qualifications. Experience Preferred: At least one year of clinical experience in a healthcare-related environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is required. Proficiency with PC operations, MS Office, and willingness to learn additional software including audiovisual and computerized simulation platforms. Certification BLS Certification is mandatory and must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus. Physical demands include lifting up to 35 lbs., frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Work takes place in a teaching environment with typical office noise and distractions. There is potential exposure to infectious diseases and a slight possibility of encountering hostile individuals.
