Position Type: Athletics/Athletic Trainer Date Posted: 4/10/2026 Location: Site To Be Determined Date Available: 05/01/2026 Closing Date: Until Filled POSITION TITLE: BOC CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER SCHEDULE: 230 Day Work Calendar (1,840 work hours) COMPENSATION: L3 Classified Employee Pay Scale ($55,400-$89,490) REPORTING: Coweta County Director of Sports Medicine, School Athletic Director JOB DESCRIPTION: The Coweta County School System employs athletic trainers directly through the school system. We prioritize a patient-centered approach, integrating athletic training into the daily school schedule. This role provides the clinical autonomy and treatment-focused environment similar to the collegiate medical model. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide on-site athletic training coverage for practices, home events, away varsity football, and some Saturdays Evaluate athletic injuries and develop appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans Implement injury prevention techniques such as taping, bracing, and stretching Provide immediate care and emergency response for injuries, including concussion management and first aid Coordinate referrals to physicians and healthcare providers as needed Effectively communicate with physicians, administrators, coaches, parents, and medical professionals regarding injury status and return to play decisions Assist with the education of nutrition, hydration, and overall wellness for student athletes Maintain confidential and accurate medical records Maintain and keep athletic training supplies and inventory Ensure compliance with Coweta County School System policies and procedures Ensure compliance with policies and procedures with Georgia High School Association Adhere to guidelines of the Georgia State Practice Act for athletic training Participate as required in annual evaluation process Perform such additional responsibilities as may be assigned by administrative personnel
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with others Be able to make sound clinical decisions under stress Able to prioritize patient care and administrative tasks in a fast paced environment Maintain satisfactory attendance as defined by system or local school handbook Be technologically proficient with EMR systems and modalities Take all necessary and reasonable steps to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand, walk, and move between facilities for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Graduate from a CAATE accredited athletic training program. Must currently hold or be qualified to apply for BOC certification and State of Georgia Athletic Training License. Must have current CPR/BLS certification. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Successful AT experience at the level to which assigned. Pay scale is based on years of service within qualifying school districts.
