We are seeking a dedicated ASCP Certified Phlebotomy Technician to join our healthcare team in a regional medical facility serving the Southern Gulf Coast area. This part-time, on-site role involves precise collection and documentation of blood specimens, ensuring patient safety and adherence to laboratory standards. Key Responsibilities
Record phlebotomy collection details accurately into the Laboratory Information System, including patient identification, collection, and receipt times. Perform venipunctures, finger sticks for adults and children, and heel sticks for infants following established protocols. Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy and supply areas, as well as patient waiting spaces. Adhere strictly to patient identification policies, labeling samples in the presence of patients. Collect chain of custody urine samples with proper documentation. Follow laboratory safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment. Demonstrate proficiency with laboratory computer systems for order entry and verification of medical necessity. Assist with outpatient order checks, result faxing, and follow-up on collection issues. Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring proper stock rotation and viability. Operate patient equipment safely and comply with alarm system policies. Stay informed on testing methods and reference requirements to effectively communicate with patients. Work independently with minimal supervision and contribute to team efforts during off-shift or crisis situations. Maintain positive working relationships with healthcare staff and support a safe patient care environment. Education and Experience Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP or equivalent) is required. Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting is preferred. Requirements
