Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and efficient patient care. This full-time Medical Assistant role in a dynamic float pool setting offers a chance to support clinical staff and patients across various departments during day shifts, Monday through Friday. General Summary The Medical Assistant operates within their scope of practice to deliver patient care as delegated by licensed nurses, physicians, or advanced practice providers. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent customer service and critical thinking skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling. Provide direct patient interaction such as escorting patients, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, verifying medications and allergies, and documenting medical histories and visit reasons accurately and promptly. Manage communication by routing phone messages, answering patient inquiries, and assisting with physician return calls. Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administration (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered. Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis. Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures as directed by providers. Complete necessary paperwork including prior authorizations and referrals in a timely manner. Maintain supply inventory, clean and stock exam rooms, and educate patients on electronic health record access. Support orientation and training of new medical assistants. Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain punctuality and attendance standards. Education Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program or equivalent experience. High school diploma required. Experience At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist preferred. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous. Certification and Licenses
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
Mental and Physical Requirements Requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional interaction with challenging individuals.
