This role involves collaborating closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other surgical staff to ensure patient safety and efficient surgical procedures. General Summary The Surgical Technologist is a vital member of the surgical team, responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile environments, and assisting during surgical procedures. Utilizing sterile techniques and specialized equipment, you will help facilitate successful surgeries and contribute to positive patient outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare surgical cases accurately using surgeon preference cards and appropriate instruments. Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support surgical procedures. Maintain aseptic technique, demonstrate dexterity, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team. Operate sterilization equipment following established protocols. Monitor and handle implantable devices with sterile technique and ensure proper function. Inspect and prepare surgical equipment and specialty devices prior to procedures. Maintain organized, clean, and efficient workspaces while managing time effectively. Perform delegated tasks under the direct supervision of the surgeon to enhance patient safety and quality of care. Education Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required. Experience Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse is preferred but not mandatory. Certification and Licenses
Current Surgical Technologist Certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus and physical stamina, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Expect frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is typical.
