Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region as a Certified Surgical Technologist. This role involves collaborating closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and surgical staff to ensure seamless patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. General Summary The Surgical Technologist is a skilled professional who applies sterile techniques and operates technical equipment to assist surgeons effectively throughout surgical cases. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare surgical cases accurately using surgeon preference cards and appropriate instruments. Apply medical knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support surgical procedures. Maintain aseptic techniques, demonstrate dexterity, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team. Operate sterilization equipment following established protocols. Monitor implantable devices ensuring sterile handling and proper function. Inspect and verify equipment functionality prior to procedures. Care for surgical instruments, tables, cautery units, and specialty equipment responsibly. Work independently while meeting commitments, managing time efficiently, and maintaining punctuality. Keep workspaces organized, clean, and functional to enhance patient safety. Perform delegated tasks under the direct supervision of the surgeon to maintain quality standards. Education Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required. Experience Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse is preferred but not mandatory. Certification and Licenses
Current Surgical Technologist Certification. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Mental and Physical Requirements This position demands considerable mental focus and physical stamina, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and body fluids is expected, along with occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is typical.
