Prepare surgical cases accurately using surgeon preference cards and appropriate instruments. Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support surgical procedures. Maintain aseptic technique and anticipate the needs of the surgical team. Operate sterilization equipment following established protocols. Monitor and manage implantable devices with sterile technique. Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning properly before use. Assist in patient positioning safely under physician guidance. Provide clear visualization of the operative site as directed. Help maintain hemostasis and assist with closure of body planes. Apply wound dressings as ordered by the physician. Demonstrate accountability, work independently, and maintain punctuality. Keep workspaces organized and efficient to enhance patient safety. Perform delegated tasks to uphold quality standards under surgeon supervision. Education Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required. Experience Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse is preferred but not mandatory. Certification and Licenses
Current Surgical Technologist Certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. First Assistant Certification is preferred.
Mental and Physical Requirements This role demands considerable mental focus and physical stamina, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, and other physical activities such as pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Expect regular exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as occasional interactions with challenging individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is typical.
