The Appraisal Lane is currently looking for a highly motivated senior DevOps engineer to contribute to our platform. If you have a passion for architecting top-notch real-time systems and working with a dynamic international team, this is the opportunity for you! What you'll do: Maintain and extend operational processes to ensure high availability and service for our technology stack across all environments. Balance the effective management of our current infrastructure on AWS. Be responsible for the installation, configuration and administration of systems supporting our web servers and applications. Build and manage development and testing environments while collaborating with developers to identify issues and debug applications. Provide automation and provisioning through use of configuration management tools. Build upon existing monitoring and alerting solutions. Set up build machines for our projects. Improve and maintain continuous integration for multiple software applications. What you'll need: Knowledge of Linux virtualization through Docker containers. Experience administering application servers, web servers, and databases (for example: Nginx, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Passenger). Knowledge of the AWS cloud infrastructure system. Understanding of web application and Internet security best practices. Experience with the following will be taken into account: continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Travis-CI) scripting languages, including Python, Bash. Strong sense of ownership over issue resolution. Understanding of web services technologies including HTTP, HTTPS, WSDL, and REST. Degree in computer science or other technical discipline. Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and feature concepts. Experience with Kubernetes. Considered a plus Experience on security tools and pentesting. Knowledge on Lua language. Experience on monitoring tools such as New Relic, Nagios, Cacti. The System: Our system consists of many microservices; the core of our platform is the backend API, which drives the behavior of our mobile and web clients. A few specific aspects of our core system are: Websockets support for real time updates on the clients. Ruby on Rails, Python/Flask and Node.JS based modules. Python powered statistics system (numpy, pandas, scipy). noSQL databases (redis, elasticsearch/lucene). Our web client is fully written on AngularJS and is architected using the latest design paradigms (component based design). We have both native Android and iOS apps built with: Local data storage Complex data sync mechanism with the core system. Full duplex communication via Web-Sockets Dynamic form generation and validation using a jSON based structure with defined rules Real time messaging and UI updates
