The Director of Solution Design & Engineering is a strategic leadership role responsible for leading a team of engineers, analysts, and Operational Key Account Managers in the development of innovative, data‑driven, and cost‑effective supply chain solutions for our key customers. This individual serves as the primary technical and design authority for all new and existing business in their vertical, ensuring that proposed solutions are commercially viable and operationally excellent. The Director collaborates closely with Commercial, Operations (FEC and FXL), Engineering, and IT to create integrated logistics solutions encompassing transportation and value‑added services. Responsibilities Oversee the end‑to‑end solution design process for new business pursuits and the optimization of existing operations. Modify and adjust transit plans for key accounts to achieve continuous improvement. Assist industry Sales with strategy to develop and maintain FedEx sustained competitive advantage. Ensure all solutions are rigorously analyzed for financial viability, providing detailed cost and pricing models, ROI calculations, and risk assessments. Partner with the Sales teams to provide technical expertise during customer engagements, presentations, and negotiations. Work closely with Operations leaders to ensure that designed solutions are implementable, scalable, and will meet or exceed customer expectations. Attain operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs by effectively analyzing, reviewing, and directing the activities of personnel in the areas of operations. Ensure that long‑ and short‑range planning is accomplished, including succession planning, contingency planning, property and lease planning. Audit and analyze financial reporting to identify areas for improvement and ensure a high degree of fiscal discipline with the organization. Ensure continuous development of operations and leadership talent to fill positions to meet company growth expectations. Qualifications Previous experience in developing customized solutions, including freight forwarding. Knowledge of the automotive and technology industry verticals. Proven track record of working with customers to continuously improve operational performance. Strong management, human relations, and communications skills. Minimum 4‑year college degree preferred or equivalent in business and/or minimum 10 years business leadership experience in international logistics. Performs other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. Actual pay will be determined by experience, market, and other factors, while including health, vision, and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement benefits. Pay: $11,845.00/MO - $26,780.00/MO FedEx Logistics is an Equal Opportunity Employer including Vets/Disability.
