Job Summary EOHHS is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the MassHealth Data Modernization Initiative within the Enterprise Data Management & Engineering (EDME) team. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing cloud-based data pipelines and platforms using AWS, Snowflake, Informatica (IICS), and Python. The ideal candidate has deep experience in data engineering, decentralized data architectures (Data Mesh), and large-scale cloud data platforms, and can collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based data pipelines and data management systems Architect and implement decentralized data architectures (Data Mesh) Build and optimize end-to-end data ingestion and processing pipelines Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and HIPAA requirements Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, data management, analytics, QA) Monitor and optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of cloud data solutions Implement and maintain data integration solutions using Informatica (IICS), Snowflake, SQL, and Python Lead technical design discussions and review ETL/data layer designs Produce clear technical documentation and establish best practices Support continuous improvement of the enterprise cloud data platform
Core Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Cloud Data Architecture Strong experience with AWS cloud data solutions 5+ years hands-on experience with Snowflake Experience building enterprise-scale, multi-terabyte cloud data platforms Strong expertise in ETL / data pipelines and data integration Hands-on experience with: SQL Python Airflow (or similar orchestration tools) Strong understanding of: Data warehousing & data modeling Data governance and security standards System administration, storage, backup & recovery, networking Proficiency with Linux/Unix and shell scripting Excellent communication skills; able to explain solutions to technical and business stakeholders Experience handling sensitive healthcare data and familiarity with HIPAA
Preferred Qualifications
AWS Certification or Cloud Data Engineer certification Snowflake certification Informatica (IICS) and Airflow advanced experience Experience with Tableau and/or Cognos reporting tools
