Mission Truth For Life (TFL) communicates the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. This evangelistic effort is enabled by various technologies that are supported by the Information Technology Systems Administration role. As a key member of TFL, this position is responsible for providing oversight, design and direction of IT systems and infrastructure, support of TFL employees including Macs and PCs and their rollouts, training and documentation. This position is essential to supporting the mission of the ministry of Truth For Life.
ROLE DESCRIPTION In this role you will be responsible for the management, oversight, and continuous improvement of the organization’s IT infrastructure, working closely with and under the direction of the IT Director. You will help set the technical direction for the environment while managing projects and day-to-day activities with key vendors. Key responsibilities include administering and maintaining on-premises and/or cloud-based servers, designing and supporting system architectures, and ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of core services. You will also design, implement, and maintain deployment, device management, patching, and maintenance systems for our fleet of Macs and PCs. You will ensure system reliability through effective patch management, backup execution, and regular testing of backup and recovery processes. You will play a lead role in strengthening the organization’s security posture by maintaining PCI compliance and advancing security best practices, including responding to security incidents and supporting security awareness initiatives. This position is also critically involved in organizational initiatives requiring the evaluation, design, pricing, and implementation of new systems or processes. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with developers and an existing system administrator, providing technical support for users both in the office and remotely, and facilitating user training. This position reports to the IT Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage IT projects by coordinating timelines, deliverables, and dependencies with the IT team, other departments, and key vendors
Ensure system patching, updates, and routine maintenance are executed consistently across servers, endpoints, and core platforms
Ensure backups are executed successfully and support disaster recovery and business continuity testing activities
Monitor and report on IT key performance indicators (KPIs), including availability, response times, and service levels
Communicate planned maintenance windows, service interruptions, and outages clearly and proactively to staff
Track, document, and resolve support issues using the help desk ticketing system
Maintain PCI compliance and lead the implementation of security best practices, including remediation of identified gaps and security awareness initiatives
Advocate for strong security and privacy practices with vendors, employees, and leadership to protect organizational and donor data
Implement and manage device management solutions for company‑owned Macs and PCs, including deployment and maintenance tooling
Support annual and long‑term organizational initiatives by assessing IT system, infrastructure, and policy needs for feasibility, cost, and timelines
Provide basic network administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting (LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN)
Administer and maintain servers, including operating system updates, performance monitoring, and capacity planning
Evaluate, test, and deploy new software solutions in alignment with organizational standards and needs
Manage software licensing, renewals, compliance, and vendor relationships
Respond to and assist with the investigation and remediation of security incidents
Purchase, configure, inventory, and maintain IT hardware and accessories
Administer team collaboration platforms (e.g., email, messaging, file sharing, video conferencing)
Manage technical onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and contractors, including account provisioning and access removal
Maintain and support conference room technology and audiovisual systems
Create and maintain internal IT documentation, standards, and procedures
Develop and administer technical training for employees based on skill gaps and new system or software rollouts
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Basic Education Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
Preferred Requirements
5 years or greater of relevant technical experience or demonstrated success in a Systems Administration role
Experience working in and in support of a small‑to‑medium‑sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using up‑to‑date Microsoft infrastructure components and other standard networking components
Experience managing Mac and iOS devices in addition to Windows Server and desktop OS environments
Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of Windows desktop products and familiarity with Windows servers and networks
Demonstrated working knowledge of network protocols, server and desktop technologies
Ability to organize and deliver training of basic IT concepts to users
Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support needs in conjunction with IT Director
Ability to manage multiple activities and tasks simultaneously
Ability to communicate well throughout system outages, procedure changes and upgrades
Well‑developed verbal and written communications
Customer‑oriented and cool‑tempered in all situations
Experience with macOS and other Apple devices is a necessity
Experience in scripting for Windows and Mac/iOS devices for system management
Experience with MDR, SIEM, and RMM tools for security response and patching
Understanding of large disk arrays and design parameters around backup, DR and recovery
Understanding of VMs and how they function
Set strategy and design direction for IT infrastructure based on needed business requirements
Demonstrate excellence in each task done with an eye towards making the experience for each employee and user simple and easy to understand and respect their time as valuable members of TFL
Work time, environment and physical demands
Evening and weekends work is required on occasion
Stand for extended periods of time
