What you'll do
Align business requirements with appropriate security controls and develop and maintain security configuration baselines and integration documentation.
Design and implement detections across multiple security platforms.
Reviewing technical solutions, identifying gaps and compensating controls and escalating high‑risk designs as needed.
Assess and validate the effectiveness of data security solutions through testing and evaluation.
Support remediation efforts to resolve internal and external data‑security issues and address compliance gaps.
Translate enterprise data security controls and classification frameworks, developed for unstructured data environments, into equivalent, enforceable controls for structured data sources including databases, data warehouses, and analytical platforms, ensuring consistent protection posture across all data domains.
Support proof‑of‑concepts or pilots efforts and support for remediation of security and compliance gaps.
What Experience You'll Need
Bachelor's degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Management Information
5+ years of experience in data security, cybersecurity engineering, or cloud security roles.
Experience supporting audits, risk assessments, and regulatory examinations.
Hands‑on experience in data security engineering within a financial services environment (preferred).
Understanding of identity‑centric and behavior‑based security models, including Zero Trust principles, identity‑aware data access, privileged‑user monitoring, insider‑threat detection, UEBA, anomaly detection, and SIEM/SOAR integrations.
Hands‑on experience with one or more data security technologies across structured data environments, including Database Activity Monitoring (DBAM), data discovery and inventory, data access governance, CASB, DLP, and DSPM.
Designing and implementing high-fidelity detections across Cloud, SIEM and DLP platforms.
Experience reducing false positives without creating blind spots.
Experience extending data security controls and governance to advanced workloads, including Machine Learning and Large Language Model (AI) systems (preferred).
Knowledge of NIST SP 800‑53 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
Familiarity with GLBA, SOX, FFIEC, and NYDFS 500 regulatory requirements. (preferred)
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and risks to non‑technical stakeholders, translating technical issues into clear business impacts.
Ability to partner with adjacent security domains (e.g., unstructured data security, DLP, DSPM) to ensure consistent policy application and to translate control requirements across data types and environments.
Work Arrangement Current INTERNAL home‑based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home‑based status. Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home‑based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on‑site work.
Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week effective June1,2026. Before June1,2026, candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
