Description: The LPN partners with residents and other care providers The goal is to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment Direct and indirect care is provided to residents The unit specializes in caring for residents with Alzheimer's and dementia Care approaches are tailored to meet the unique needs of these residents Verbal and non-verbal communication techniques are employed Understanding difficult behaviors associated with Alzheimer's and dementia is essential Such behaviors can be valid forms of communication This position requires providing care in a home-like environment
The role also includes providing care to residents needing long-term placement The emphasis is on ensuring comfort and safety for all residents Additional responsibilities include oversight in a unit for short-term, skilled nursing Patients recovering from various medical conditions are supported Nursing services may include IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment and management An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be acceptable
