Weekly Estimated Pay: $4,650 - $4,980
Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Blue Ridge Mountains; thriving arts scene and outdoor activities)
Setting: Cardiac Surgery ICU, Level 1 Trauma Hospital
Duration: 13 weeks (September 21, 2026 - December 21, 2026)
Shift: Day shifts (07:00 - 20:00), 5 shifts per week
Patient Population: Adult cardiothoracic patients recovering from complex surgeries
Support Staff: 1-2 providers per shift
EMR: Epic (Epic EMR experience preferred)
Job Requirements At least 1 year of critical care or cardiac surgery ICU experience
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification required
Comfortable with high autonomy in a fast-paced ICU environment
Strong interest or background in cardiothoracic surgery and critical care
Ability to remain in Roanoke, VA for the full duration of the assignment
Responsibilities Manage adult patients recovering from complex cardiothoracic procedures (aortic surgery, CABG, thoracic and valve surgery)
Collaborate with attending physicians and APP colleagues on advanced mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, IABP, LVAD, Impella, RVAD)
Perform and refine critical care procedures: bronchoscopy, central venous catheter placement, arterial line insertion, chest tube management
Order and interpret diagnostic studies and apply clinical judgment for timely interventions
Respond to critical and emergent situations with rapid assessment and stabilization
Focus on optimizing patient experience, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes in a cardiothoracic ICU setting
