Baylor College of Medicine and Section of Colorectal Surgery Baylor College of Medicine is located in the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical center. The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery includes approximately 280 faculty members who practice across leading affiliated institutions, including Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Texas Children's Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. The Section of Colorectal Surgery offers a collaborative academic environment with access to advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical platforms, the NCI-designated Dan L Duncan Cancer Center, a multidisciplinary inflammatory bowel disease center, and an anorectal center. The successful candidate will have opportunities to advance comprehensive colorectal care while engaging in multidisciplinary collaboration, education, and scholarship. Summary The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine seeks an exceptional, fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon to join the Section of Colorectal Surgery. This is a full-time academic faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will build an academic clinical practice focused at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center while contributing meaningfully to surgical education, clinical research, quality improvement, and the broader mission of Baylor College of Medicine. Job DutiesDeliver high-quality, patient-centered surgical care across the spectrum of colorectal disease, with clinical practice focused at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. Participate in inpatient, operative, ambulatory, and call responsibilities for Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and affiliated hospitals, as assigned. Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other surgical learners in the clinical and operative environment. Participate in clinical research and scholarly activity, including publications, clinical trials, outcomes research, and quality-improvement initiatives aligned with the academic mission of Baylor College of Medicine. Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical pathways, quality metrics, and programmatic priorities for the colorectal surgery service. Actively participate in section, department, hospital, college, and relevant professional activities that support clinical excellence and academic growth. Minimum QualificationsCompletion of a colorectal surgery fellowship. Board certification or board eligibility through the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ABCRS). Eligibility for a full and unrestricted Texas medical license. Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, collaborative care, and education of surgical learners Preferred QualificationsEstablished record of excellence in colorectal surgical practice. Experience in clinical, translational, outcomes, or quality-improvement research. Interest in developing an academic program of scholarship, including clinical trials, collaborative research, publications, and/or extramural funding.
