POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The Speech Therapist provides evaluation and treatment of patients experiencing communication disorders of all types, as well as select swallowing disorders.This includes adults, geriatrics, and/or adolescents.

Review physician's referral and patient's medical record, review diagnosis, and screen/evaluate communication disorders including functional/organic speech, language, voice, fluency cognitive/communication and select swallowing disorders
Develop a treatment plan
Evaluate and monitor patient's progression and make appropriate adjustments to treatment plan to achieve maximum benefit
In individual or group settings, treat and manage patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders such as:
Neurogenic communication disorders: aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria and cognitive/communication deficits.
Maxillofacial, laryngeal and other head and neck disorders.
Functional speech, language, voice and fluency disorders (i.e., vocal hyperfunction, stuttering, etc.).
Swallowing disorders including pseudobulbar, bulbar, mechanical and functional dysphagia.
Provide written reports for each patient, including initial evaluation; progress, summary, and discharge reports; progress notes for each treatment session; physician certification/billing questionnaires and other relevant reports/documentation as needed
Provide counseling, education/training and guidance to patients, patient's families and caregivers as appropriate
Confer with patient, medical practitioners and appropriate others to plan, implement, and assess the treatment program
Act as a consultant and promotes program to educational, medical, social, dental, and other professional groups
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders or equivalent degree approved by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association. AND A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association. One year of experience as a speech pathologist, audiologist, or equivalent is preferred. Current Washington State license to practice as a Speech Pathologist.
