Location: Valdez, Alaska (911 Meals Avenue, ZIP 99686) Start Date: 07/16/2026 Shift: Inpatient coverage, clinic & overnight call shifts (~4 per week, 10 hours each) Schedule: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, night beeper call Hours/Week: 40+ hours (includes guaranteed 10-hour shifts) Employment Type: Contract, full-time availability Certifications: Active or IMLC license, DEA required, BC in Emergency Medicine or Family Practice (rural health experience preferred) Experience: Rural health, emergency department, hospitalist, OB/C-Sections (if needed)

What You'll Do:
Provide emergency care in a rural hospital setting, managing a wide scope of cases Cover inpatient and outpatient primary care, including emergency OB/C-sections if necessary Support transfer of patients to larger facilities as appropriate Participate in overnight and on-call duties, including night beeper call Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure quality patient care in a resource-limited environment Adapt to evolving needs in a high-acuity, small hospital setting
What You Need:
Valid license to practice medicine in Alaska or IMLC Board certification in Emergency Medicine or Family Practice (rural health experience ideal) DEA certification Rural health experience preferred Ability to work independently and handle diverse cases in a rural hospital environment
About the Assignment: Providence Valdez is a critical access hospital serving a vibrant community located in scenic Alaska. This position requires providers capable of managing emergency and primary care responsibilities, including obstetrics and stabilization, with the flexibility to support hospital needs during a busy season. The hospital provides on-site apartments—pets are not permitted. Travel involves flying into Anchorage and taking a regional flight or ground shuttle to Valdez, with lodging arranged locally.
