Coordinates nursing services with department leadership to facilitate adequate staffing based on census and patient need; evaluates staffing and resources to ensure optimal utilization of personnel based on skill level and experience. Collaborates with health care team for decisions on patient placement. Collaborates with department charge nurses, providers, and other departments to expedite patient throughput. Assists with triaging and admission prioritization to facilitate patient throughput when necessary. Responds to campus emergency alerts (Code Blue, Rapid Response, Missing Patients, etc.), carries out assigned role, and facilitates patient movements if necessary. Collaborates with staff/patients/patient representatives regarding ethical dilemmas, new procedures, and chain of command interventions. Serves as a consultant to hospital staff, physicians, and outside agencies on operational issues. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred: Master's degree in nursing or similar field
Experience
Required: 3 or more years as a Registered Nurse required. Preferred: Acute care setting. Previous leadership and/or critical care experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
Required: RN- Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or Compact state. BLS ACLS (Not applicable for the Behavioral Health Service Line) Notary public certification in the State of North Carolina (must be completed within six months of hire)
