HEALTHY COMMUNITIES. COMPASSIONATE CARE. Ozarks Community Hospital (OCH), located in Gravette, AR has openings for a Laboratory Assistant/Specimen Processor within our Laboratory department. Under direction of the Laboratory Manager, technical direction of the Laboratory Director, Pathologist, and the Clinical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Technician, the Laboratory Assistant/Specimen Processor is responsible for supervision of the training of the processors in the training program for Clinical Lab Assistant I. Clinical Lab Assistant I is responsible for obtaining & registering patient samples, testing patient samples on waived testing and delivering results to providers in a hospital laboratory. In this program the Clinical Lab Assistant I will be in training appropriate for testing performed prior to analyzing moderate complexity testing of patient samples. Such training will have proper specimen collection, including patient preparation, applicable labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens. Skills obtained will be but on limited to all standard lab procedures, test method and for proper instrument use, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration procedures related to each test performed, knowledge of reagent stability and storage, Implementation of quality control policies and procedures, awareness of the factors that influence test result, and skills required to assess and verify the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control samples vales prior to reporting patient test results. He/she may assist in instructing other personnel as assigned. He/she is able to correlate and interpret data based on knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results, recognize problems, identify the cause, and resolve solutions to problems. Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience not required, but 1-3 years' experience is desirable. Demonstrates the ability to perform the technical skills and critical thinking outlines in the performance standards. Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Recertification required before expiration throughout employment.
