We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our General Surgery team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive perioperative and post-operative care in an inpatient setting and performing administrative duties. The APP will collect data and assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients under their care, including rapid primary and secondary surveys to identify, manage, and prioritize interventions. The APP is responsible for patient advocacy in the medical care system, serving as an advisor and liaison between patients and physicians. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. Key Responsibilities:
Inpatient Rounding:
Conduct daily rounds on surgical patients. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to manage patient care. Document progress notes, order labs/imaging, and assist in discharge planning.
Preoperative and Postoperative Care: Develop and implement treatment plans before and after surgery, including pain management, infection prevention, and rehabilitation. Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment as needed.
Provide patient education and support regarding surgical procedures, recovery, and follow-up care.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work with other medical professionals such as medical hospitalists, emergency room physicians, anesthesiologists, physical therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and other APPs to provide comprehensive care.
Quality Improvement and Education: Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance care practices including teaching and training programs for medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
Administrative Duties:
Assist with surgical scheduling, coordination of care, and documentation. Complete insurance and disability forms as needed. Support the surgical team with quality improvement initiatives and compliance documentation.
Qualifications:
Current APN or PA licensure in NJ and board certification (NCCPA). Valid DEA and CDS license or eligibility to obtain. BLS and ACLS certification (required). Excellent communication, clinical, and organizational skills. Work Environment:
