Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,440 - $3,690
Location: Santa Rosa, CA 95405 - Sonoma County, California (local candidates and locum tenens welcome)
Role: Inpatient General Surgery Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (No OR responsibilities)
Setting: Hospital inpatient, surgical floor / trauma surgery service
Shift Times: 6:30am - 4:30pm
Schedule: 3 days/week, 4 weeks/month (flexible days)
Minimum Shifts Required: 12 days per month
Guaranteed Hours: 8 hours per day
Start Date: September 1, 2026
Duration: Ongoing locum tenens assignment (option to extend)
Job Requirements Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in California
Board Certified or Board Eligible in relevant specialty (surgical/acute care preferred)
Active DEA registration required
Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA)
Minimum 2 years of current hospital clinical activity in general surgery, trauma surgery, or surgical floor inpatient care
Current CV/resume with all hospital affiliations and references
Ability to provide current surgical case logs or procedure logs for surgical specialties
Gaps in clinical practice greater than 3 months must be explained
Responsibilities Provide high-quality inpatient care for general surgery and trauma surgery patients on the surgical floor (no operating room responsibilities)
Manage and document an average of 12 patient encounters per shift in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Perform admissions, daily progress notes, discharges, and post-operative inpatient management
Collaborate closely with surgeons, hospitalists, nursing staff, and the medical director
Participate in credentialing, privileging, and quality improvement processes
Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety protocols, and trauma surgery standards of care
