Position Description ESB Asset Development is developing an ambitious pipeline of renewable energy projects to meet ESB's strategic objective to decarbonise the electricity sector. ESB is investing in renewable energy assets across a range of technologies including onshore and offshore wind and solar energy. Our development pipeline has been built up through greenfield site development, joint venture partnerships, strategic development partnerships and acquisitions. A Project Manager vacancy has arisen for a full-time permanent contract in the solar team in Asset Development. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the development activities of solar projects (including the integration of BESS technology), acquiring new projects and delivering investible business cases. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be required to lead in all activities related to the acquisition and development of solar projects (and BESS projects as applicable) from concept through the various development stages up to final investment decision. This includes, but is not limited to: Identify and assess new project opportunities in solar and or hybrid energy within ESB's core markets Lead and manage the development process of ESB Solar Projects through the land, planning, grid connection and Route to Market consenting phase. Establish and maintain an appropriate a development strategy for each project with their portfolio Develop and optimise the business case for solar projects Develop contracting strategies for main construction contracts and manage the procurement processes Report regularly to internal investment boards on new opportunities and on project development Ensure projects are developed as competitively as possible from the earliest stages Manage and control project costs and business development budgets Ensure health, safety and quality are built into projects from the earliest stages of development Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience 7 years in the energy sector, including 3 or more in utility/renewable energy development Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills Commercial and negotiation expertise Proven project and programme management capability Experience delivering complex projects Knowledge of public procurement processes and utilities directive Experience negotiating high-value contracts Sound judgement and decision-making Adaptable in fast-changing environments Qualifications Essential The candidate should hold a primary degree in engineering, business or another relevant discipline. Prior experience in renewable energy project development Desirable Qualifications Project management or other business qualifications that complement the knowledge, skills and experience listed above. Location This position will be based in ESB's Head Office, 27 Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Dublin, D02 KT92. Smart Working at ESB is designed to make 'in-person' time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week.
