Academic Support Program Director Full Time for the 2026-2027 School Year Serving a diverse community of over 600 students from Kindergarten - 8th grade, our teachers collaborate with each other to educate our students to a high standard, in both academics and character. We strive to form our students to be PEARLS: People with strong character, Effective communicators, Active Christians, Responsible citizens, and Lifelong learners. St. Matthew's has a supportive parish community, and community of school parents, who partner with us in forming saints and scholars. We have a multitude of resources available to support all staff and to set up our teachers for success. We are a double class school; teachers have partner teachers to work and collaborate with, as well as full-time instructional aides in each classroom from K-4th grades. New teachers have access to a strong yearlong mentorship program, as well as access to ongoing professional development tailored to individual and communal needs. All teachers receive instructional support from the Leadership Team. The Leadership Team consists of three Deans: Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, Dean of Campus Life, and the Dean of School Affairs. Teachers also have access to a generous classroom supply fund to utilize for materials and supplies for classroom enrichment beyond your provided basic classroom supplies.
Required Qualifications
Valid California teaching or services credential (e.g., Education Specialist Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential) Minimum 3-5 years of experience in special education, learning support, or student services in a K-8 or K-12 setting Experience coordinating Student Support Team (SST) meetings and related documentation Demonstrated ability to collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and implement accommodations Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with parents, faculty, and outside specialists Ability to interpret learning evaluations Commitment to the Catholic mission and values of the school Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a Catholic or independent school environment Familiarity with the San Mateo-Foster City School District's assessment and IEP processes, or equivalent local district partnership experience Experience working with outside service providers such as speech/language therapists, occupational therapists, and school psychologists Training or certification in evidence-based intervention programs
Experience managing or directing a Resource Room or Learning Support department Strong organizational skills with experience maintaining compliant student records in a school information system Prior experience guiding families through referral, evaluation, and advocacy processes for learning support services The Academic Support Program Director is a key leadership role in ensuring the academic success of all students by overseeing student support services, coordinating intervention programs, and managing the school's resource and learning support departments. The Director works closely with faculty, parents, and administration to ensure students with diverse learning needs receive appropriate support aligned with the school's Catholic mission and values. Responsibilities Instructional Support and Student Services
Develop and implement support programs, in collaboration with parents, for students with identified learning differences or educational challenges Collaborate with teachers to adapt curriculum, differentiate instruction, and integrate accommodations Coordinate academic screenings and assessments; interpret results and make recommendations Serve as the primary liaison with public and private educational specialists, including psychologists, speech/language therapists, and occupational therapists Administrative Responsibilities
Oversee the Student Support Team (SST) process, including scheduling and documentation Maintain student records in accordance with FERPA and school policy Prepare and manage documentation for student accommodation plans (e.g., service plans, learning profiles) Coordinate with outside agencies (such as San Mateo-Foster City School District) regarding assessments, IEPs, and services Guide parents through the referral and evaluation process for learning support services Offer resources, guidance, and advocacy for families of students with diverse learning needs Ensure the integrity of the Resource Program by maintaining its intended purpose of supporting students with diagnosed learning needs and preventing it from becoming a general "drop-in" service for other students.
