Über
Provide primary pediatric care including preventive services, chronic disease management, developmental screening, and behavioral health integration. Conduct well-child exams, immunizations, sports physicals, and urgent care visits. Maintain continuity of care between FQHC clinic and school-based health centers. Coordinate referrals to specialists and ensure appropriate follow-up. Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with state and federal regulations. Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
Adhere to all FQHC policies and HRSA program requirements (including UDS reporting, sliding fee scale, and cultural/linguistic appropriateness). Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and participate in preparation and audits. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics, including clinical quality measures (CQMs). Participate in peer reviews and case conferences.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team including nurses, behavioral health providers, social workers, and community health workers. Provide clinical oversight to pediatric nurse as assigned. Participate in the training of medical students, residents, or interns when applicable. Stay current with all mandatory annual CME requirements as per licensing, credentialing, and organizational guidelines.
Provide health education to children and families on topics such as nutrition, growth and development, disease prevention, and mental health. Participate in community outreach events, school health fairs, and other public health initiatives.
Qualifications: Education and Licensure:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution. Board Certification in Pediatrics. Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana. DEA license and State Controlled Substance Registration (if applicable). Current BLS certification.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a pediatric outpatient setting preferred; experience with underserved populations and/or school-based care is highly desirable. Knowledge of HRSA FQHC guidelines and experience working under Joint Commission accreditation standards is strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Commitment to community health and reducing health disparities. Strong communication, interpersonal, and cultural competency skills. Proficiency in using EHR systems (e.g., Athena). Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Work Environment and Schedule:
Split between primary care clinics and school-based health centers. Full-time, 40 hours/week with occasional weekend shifts. May involve local travel between clinic and school sites.
