Work hours are predominantly 7:30pm-8am with weekend day shift (based on need) from 7:30am-8pm.
This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer with a dotted line to the Director of Professional Development. Responsibilities
Create and update orientation programs and continuing education modules specific to pediatric nursing (e.g., BLS, PALS, neonatal resuscitation, pediatric pharmacology). Provide "at-the-elbow" support for staff in clinical settings, especially complex interdisciplinary care plans or the introduction of new medical technology. Conduct annual skills fairs and "mock codes" to ensure all staff are proficient in life-saving pediatric interventions. Analyze clinical outcomes (like infection rates or medication errors) and develop targeted educational interventions to improve patient safety. Lead the onboarding program for new graduate nurses, guiding them through the transition from student to pediatric RN. Ensure all nursing staff meet the educational requirements set by The Joint Commission and state licensing boards. Other duties assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in a pediatric setting (PICU, NICU, or General Pediatrics). Demonstrated understanding of nurse staff education requirements set by The Joint Commission and New York State Licensing Boards. Ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders of all levels. Charge RN or Supervisor experience preferred. Experience in Meditech / Expanse helpful.
Education, Licensure, and Certification
Master of Nursing Education from an accredited school in the U.S. Candidates currently enrolled in a Master of Nursing Education accredited program will be considered. Current New York State RN License. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, stooping. Ability to transfer children and equipment up to 50lbs. Ability to meet flexible scheduling demands and patient care needs.
