Role Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive evaluations for diverse populations, employing standardized assessments and keen observational skills. Create tailored treatment plans that set achievable short and long-term goals addressing communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges. Deliver individualized speech therapy that targets various aspects including communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing. Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team - including other therapists, physicians, and family members - to develop holistic care strategies. Educate patients and families to enhance progress beyond therapy sessions. Provide occasional inpatient evaluations and therapy to ensure comprehensive care continuity. Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations. Engage in ongoing education to stay at the forefront of the field and share insights with peers. Education Requirements
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not ASHA-certified. Licenses and Certifications
Must hold a state license as a Speech Language Pathologist. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of starting the role. Skills Needed
Proficiency in evidence-based treatment methodologies suitable for all ages, with an in-depth understanding of speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Strong interpersonal and communication skills when relating with patients, families, and team members. Ability to customize therapy techniques to accommodate cultural and linguistic diversity.
