Leading meticulous patient evaluations, recommending essential tests, and creating customized treatment plans Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions in cooperation with physicians or independently (depending on your certification) Instructing patients and their families on preventative health, wellness strategies, and effective disease management Prescribing medications and therapies within your scope of practice Engaging in follow-up care and chronic disease management with patients Working alongside interdisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive, comprehensive care Accurately documenting all relevant information in electronic medical records (EMR) Educational Background Needed
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program Necessary Certifications
Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Texas National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or equivalent certification Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or willingness to obtain within 90 days) Skills That Make You Stand Out
