Builder.io is looking to add an accomplished Sales Engineer to our team to help enterprises unlock the full value of AI‑powered development. Builder.io is redefining how engineering teams build — giving developers and non‑developers alike the ability to create, iterate, and ship production‑ready applications through AI. You will partner with Account Executives to engage with engineering leaders, architects, and developers in a consultative sales process: understanding their technical environment, demonstrating tangible business value, running hands‑on proof of value engagements, and closing business.
Responsibilities
Build trusted relationships with engineering leaders, CTOs, and developer teams — serving as their trusted technical advisor throughout the evaluation and purchasing process
Lead technical discovery, deliver compelling product demonstrations, and guide prospects through hands‑on proof of value engagements inside their real development environments
Advise customers on how to integrate AI‑powered development into their development workflows — identifying the highest‑value use cases, recommending adoption patterns, and helping cross‑departmental teams understand how Builder.io can change the way they build
Develop and deliver technical presentations, whiteboarding sessions, and workshops tailored to both business stakeholders and highly technical audiences
Serve as the first line of defense for security and compliance questions, guiding customers to relevant resources and escalating complex requirements to the appropriate teams
Create and maintain internal documentation, demo guides, and enablement resources that capture common customer requirements and accelerate the team's ability to execute
Act as the internal voice of the customer — gathering feedback from the field, identifying common themes across enterprise accounts, and partnering with Product and Engineering to continuously improve the Builder.io platform and messaging
As an early‑stage hire, bring creativity and a spirit of experimentation to all that you do — we have a working playbook and we want you to help make it better
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a technical pre‑sales role (Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Solutions Consultant, or similar)
At least 3+ years selling to Enterprise customers and managing senior technical and business relationships
Hands‑on fluency with AI tooling and the modern software development lifecycle — you don't need to be a full‑time engineer, but you should be comfortable working in technical environments, understanding developer workflows, and advising on AI adoption strategies
Experience building with or selling developer tools, AI‑powered coding platforms, or technical platform products to engineering organizations
Strong executive presence — equally comfortable coding alongside developers as you are presenting to a CTO or VP of Engineering
A track record of running structured POV processes: establishing clear goals and success criteria, working hands‑on inside customer environments, and driving toward measurable outcomes
Foundational understanding of IT security principles and experience supporting enterprise security and compliance requirements in a pre‑sales context
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts for any audience
Previous experience in a startup or fast‑paced environment
Able to travel up to 25%
About Builder.io Builder.io is pioneering the space between design and development, creating a new category of Visual Development Platform that transforms how teams build digital products. Our Visual Copilot technology bridges the gap between Figma designs and production code, enabling teams to build interactive features using natural language while working with their actual code, data, and APIs. Alongside our code generation capabilities, our CMS empowers organizations to skip code generation altogether and publish updates to any live site or app in a couple clicks. Trusted by leading mid‑market to enterprise‑level companies like JCrew, Vimeo, and Anheuser Busch, we're focused on eliminating the traditional bottlenecks between design, development, and content management.
