Physician should have expertise in conditions that are more common in women, unique to women, or have gender specific manifestations. It is recommended that Designated Women's Health Providers have experience and/or training in these areas. Recognition and management of gynecology emergencies (such as Ovarian Torsion or Acute Uterine Bleeding, Ectopic Pregnancy), Vaginitis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Military Sexual Trauma, Hormonal Imbalance, Urinary Incontinence, Menopause, Cervical Cancer Screenings with minor surgical procedures, Abnormal Uterine Bleeding/Menstrual Disorders, Amenorrhea, Basic Infertility Evaluation, Managing Abnormal Pap and Human Papillomavirus Tests, Contraception and Emergency Contraception, and Diagnosis of Pregnancy and Provision of Early Prenatal Care. Provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with Gynecologic conditions. Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including history taking, physical examinations, and the ordering of diagnostic labs and tests and studies Interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and follow-up on test results in a timely manner Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with Gynecologic conditions Provide patient and family education regarding Gynecologic conditions, treatment plans, and self-management strategies, utilizing educational tools and resources to enhance patient understanding and compliance Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences if indicated, including discharge planning Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record system May be tasked to travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics as requested/assigned by the ACOS-SC. May be asked to participate in facility, VISN or National workgroups and/or committees. Provide Electronic Consultation services (E-Consults) and reviews consults for determination if appropriate for Care in the Community or local/regional VA services. Ensure compliance with VA policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical guidelines and best practices. Engage in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain board certification and clinical competence. Provide supervision and education to students and other trainees, as applicable Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare providers within the VA clinic. Administrative work shall be completed in accordance with facility policy and assigned deadlines. May be asked to be assigned collaborating physician for APP. All physicians will work within their privileges at all times, unless necessitated by an emergency.
Compensation Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.
