Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED.
Responsibilities:
Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and/or other specimen collection as required. Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understands all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. Packages specimens for transport and stores specimen samples according to required temperature. Places samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labels, and follows procedures outlined by specific protocols for transport. Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department trainings. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Qualification And Education:
2-4 years of experience.
