Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. They ensure that patients and their families receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The practice environment is supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The framework for practice is guided by a shared governance model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies. All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed and knowledgeable in accordance with relevant regulations. They uphold the practice of nursing and implement established standards of practice and ethics.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the Nursing Process which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Uses evidence-based practice and critical thinking to ensure individualized patient care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, emphasizing patient-centered care. Provides care that reflects an understanding of cultural diversity among patient populations. Partners with patients and significant others to set and focus on goals for care. Demonstrates teamwork by promoting communication methods and timely documentation. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and supports shared governance. Completes ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor to other healthcare team members. Promotes evidence-based practice and participates in research activities. Upholds organization policies, clinical competencies, and regulatory requirements. Proactively plans for patient care across the care continuum. Participates in developing protocols to achieve best practice outcomes. Supports the efficient use of human and material resources. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards of conduct.
