Background: The laboratory intern applies knowledge and skills to perform diverse laboratory procedures under the guidance of an Analytical Chemist, building skills and experience over time. Responsibilities:
Perform routine analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples and finished goods with training from senior chemists. Maintain GLP lab records. Calibrate and maintain lab instruments, ensuring a clean and organized workspace. Adhere to safety protocols, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of products produced. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Some university-level chemistry coursework, including laboratory experience. Strong attention to detail, experience with basic laboratory equipment (e.g., pH meters, viscometers), experience with good documentation practices. Willingness to learn new laboratory instruments, analytical methods, and job responsibilities. Strong organizational skills and ability to follow established procedures.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or operate laboratory instruments, tools, and materials. The role may involve frequent bending, reaching, and lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required to accurately perform laboratory tests, record data, and handle small equipment and glassware. The employee must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as lab coats, gloves, safety glasses, and masks, as necessary. Extended periods of standing during testing or media preparation may be required. Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a laboratory and manufacturing environment where exposure to biological agents, chemicals, and disinfectants may occur. The role requires adherence to all safety procedures, including the use of PPE and compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate but may vary depending on production activity. The laboratory environment is temperature-controlled, but occasional work in production or warehouse areas may be required. The employee must maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Why Join Us? Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
