Position Purpose The Counter Sales role is a key customer touchpoint, responsible for accurate order entry and smooth customer interactions. The position requires strong multitasking skills, including processing orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, and coordinating logistics to support delivery timelines. Key Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service by effectively interacting with clients through phone, e‑mail, and in‑person consultations, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor at all times. Accurately process and manage customer transactions at the sales counter using the company’s computer system to ensure efficient and precise order fulfillment. Deliver expert product recommendations and pricing information, tailoring solutions to meet customer needs and maximize sales potential. Create detailed sales orders and quotes, utilizing customer measurements to estimate material needs and project costs with accuracy. Coordinate and schedule truck deliveries with precision, ensuring optimal logistics and customer satisfaction. Contribute to inventory management by participating in cycle counts, order picking, staging, replenishment, and shipping/receiving activities. Collaborate with management and team members to communicate customer needs and special order material requests, enhancing product offerings and service delivery. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promoting operational efficiency and adherence to safety standards. Work collaboratively with warehouse and sales team members to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service. Maintain clear and effective communication with management and colleagues, executing duties with a focus on organizational goals and customer satisfaction, in alignment with company policies and objectives. Other duties as assigned. Direct Manager / Direct Reports Reports directly to the Branch Manager. This role does not include any direct reports. Travel Requirements This position is performed on‑site at the designated sales counter location; travel is not required. Physical Requirements Operates in both office and warehouse environments, involving extended standing and walking, frequent use of hands for computer and order-processing tasks, and lifting up to 75lbs. It requires clear verbal communication and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑moving setting. Responsibilities include a mix of sales counter duties and warehouse tasks, supported by modern sales systems and a commitment to maintaining an organized workspace. Strong collaboration and clear communication with staff, management, and customers are essential to meeting the Company’s service standards. Full‑time role runs Monday through Friday, with overtime during peak seasons, requiring flexibility and dedication. Minimum Qualifications Prior experience in a customer service or sales role is preferred. Experience managing customer relationships with a focus on customer satisfaction, retention, and loyalty. Proficiency in basic computer operations and internet navigation. Experience or familiarity with point‑of‑sale systems and order‑entry procedures. Demonstrated ability for clear and courteous communication in person, over the phone, and via e‑mail. Effective problem‑solving skills and resourcefulness in responding to customer inquiries and issues. Capability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 75lbs regularly and 50lbs on a repetitive basis. Ability to work in varied conditions, including warehouses and outdoor environments. Honest, respectful, and courteous demeanor towards all customers and colleagues. Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed during the peak season. Must pass a pre‑employment drug test. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. Prior experience with irrigation or landscaping products. Forklift operation experience. Demonstrated capability to drive sales outcomes and achieve personal and team goals through excellent customer service and product knowledge. Comprehensive understanding of landscaping materials, tools, and trends. Familiarity with inventory processes, including cycle counts and stock replenishment. Advanced skills in utilizing retail point‑of‑sale systems and common software applications. Current forklift certification and other relevant qualifications that enhance operational efficiency and safety. Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and manage multiple tasks effectively in a high‑paced environment. Minimum Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree in Business Administration or a related field is advantageous. Minimum Years of Work Experience Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. Certifications While specific certifications are not required, the following are preferred: Forklift Operator Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification. Salary & Benefits The base salary ranges from $19.00 to $22.88 per hour. Starting wage may vary based on position, location, education, training, and experience. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime. Associates may also qualify for performance‑based bonus programs, commissions, a car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses per company policy.
