Planning, organizing, and directing the ongoing developments of the Radiology service, as well as analyzing, evaluating, advising and coordinating clinical activities as well as short term and long-term strategic planning. The incumbent is also responsible for the higher-level review of the VA0750 performance evaluations for the technologist staff reporting to the first-line section supervisors. This includes the 2nd level supervisory responsibilities of all Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists and Medical Instrument Technologists. Plans work schedules to assure an even flow and distribution of work; explains work requirements and assigns work on a daily and weekly basis, accounting for weekend and evening shifts (as needed); sets deadlines and priorities; develops operating instructions; identifies equipment requirements; recommends methods to improve work quality and productivity. The incumbent functions independently, working within the framework of identified objectives/ strategic planning for the Health Care System, Medical Center and the Imaging Service. The incumbent strives to meet the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. He or she consistently communicates and treats customers (Veterans, families, Veteran representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately. The incumbent is familiar with and provides age-specific care that is appropriate to the cognitive, emotional, cultural, and chronological maturation needs of the patient. The primary age of Veterans receiving services is typically between 18 and 80 years of age. The age demographic is rapidly changing due to the large influx of younger veteran patients, and increased female veterans, returning from OIF and OIEF between the ages of 18-60 years of age that require care. Incumbent protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. The incumbent embraces a continuous culture of safety for veterans, their families, visitors, and employees and will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety. The incumbent will fully cooperate in efforts to improve patient safety and eradicate potential events, including reporting events resulting in actual or potential injury to patients. Implements and monitors OSHA goals for Life Safety Management, health, and the environment procedures. Implements and monitors infection control practices for disease prevention (i.e. hand washing, universal precautions/isolation procedures, including TB requirements/precautions.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:30am-4:00pm. Work Schedule is subject to change based on agency need.
