General supervision is received from Clinical Nursing Director (CND) and/ or Clinical Nursing Supervisor.
Functional supervision is received from nursing staff. Responsibilities* BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Provides patient care and support to the hemodialysis patients according to established protocol.
Maintains clinical expertise within this unique patient population. Works collaboratively with other health care team members. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInitiate, monitor and terminate outpatient hemodialysis treatments according to established protocols. Observe and accurately document care provided within unit guidelines for assigned patients. Prepare dialysis machine according to dialysis prescription. Ensure dialysis equipment is cleaned and disinfected through the units policies. Assist in stocking of medical supplies for the dialysis unit. Mixing of acid and bicarbonate solutions for dialysis circuits Troubleshoots alarm conditions. Collect, spin and package lab specimens as required for lab testing. Communicate with appropriate nursing staff and provider as patient condition warrants. Maintain and protect patient confidentiality. Interact with peers, patients, family and interdisciplinary team members. Transports and assists patients in activities of daily living. Perform other related duties as assigned. SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision is received from nursing leadership of the Hemodialysis unit. Required Qualifications*
High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certified hemodialysis technician, CCHT or BONENT.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to perform at a fast paced 1:4, staff: patient ratio.
Ability to lift and push heavy equipment.
Ability to lift, move and position patients.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team and adapt to change in a positive and constructive manner.
Documented history of excellent punctuality and attendance.
Desired Qualifications*
Basic life support (BLS) certified.
Minimum of two years' with current hemodialysis experience.
Experience with electronic medical record documentation.
Knowledge of Michigan Medicine policies and procedures.
Experience with charting in Fresenius Chairside.

Hours will be primarily eves between 0430-2100 (4:30 AM - 9:00 PM) , float between Canton and Livonia, but could include Ann Arbor, and any future dialysis location, subject to change with clinic needs.
